Resolution: Won't Fix
After performing some initial prototyping, it seems that there may not be a
strong use case for this as a generic feature. The W3C DOM classes are more
complex, but are capable of modeling an XML structure more accurately. However,
this may be a good approach for an application-specific data model where the
use of XML is more constrained.
