Ok, change to the two pages has been committed, try and tell me ... Ah, now on Internet Explorer 8 the favicon is no more shown (while before all was good), while in Firefox all is good (also when dragged to the Desktop).
But if all is good on Macs, I'd keep all as is now. Bye
