What to use for Reporting

Hi, I have never created a report in Java before. Right now I'm struggling
with iReport.
I'm considering writing Jasperreports xml by hand but .. so I thought I'd
ask advice for a more simple and basic report tool, maybe one that uses json
instead of xml. I'll just need to produce simple PO and the other usual
reports
