The Update Center GUI needs to display a short title of each user image that is being managed through the tool. Rather than maintaining an association of user images and titles outside of the images, we'd like to see IPS enhanced to enable tools and users to specify and modify an image title within each image. Regardless of the tool in use (GUI, pkg CLI, etc.), users could display and modify the title associated with an image. For example, GlassFish V3 is using IPS in support of its distros. When the GF V3 distro is pre-installed at the factory, the GF V3 team could use the pkg CLI to set or modify the image's name to "GlassFish V3". Once the image is deployed to a user's system, the user could use GUI tools or the pkg CLI to modify the title of the image as he sees fit. Supporting specification of an image title on the image-create command would only partially address this feature.
