Nod, but doesn't that effectively give us a distributable package file
format? I thought another file format was being planned?

It seems reasonable to me too. I've got most of the following done
already, and raring to share:

pkg:/GNUemacs (with GTK)
pkg:/GITcore
pkg:/CPANdigest-sha1
pkg:/CPANdigest-hmac
pkg:/CPANuri
pkg:/CPANconvert-asn1
pkg:/CPANperl-ldap
pkg:/CPANsub-uplevel
pkg:/CPANarray-compare
pkg:/CPANtree-dag_node
pkg:/CPANtest-exception
pkg:/CPANtest-simple
pkg:/CPANtest-warn
pkg:/CPANnet-ssleay
pkg:/CPANio-socket-ssl

Cheers,

Chris
