Running "pkg list" takes around 13 minutes to run on my box, which is insane.
Under truss, I see it looking through everything in /var/pkg/pkg looking for subdirectories containing 'installed' files. The last one happens to be webstackui. Then (about t+16.8) it opens /var/pkg/catalog/opensolaris.org/catalog, reads 131072 bytes from it, chews memory for 0.5 sec, reads another 131072 bytes, calls brk about 38 times, reads another 131072 bytes, calls brk 38 more times, reads 30982 bytes, calls break a bit more, closes the catalog and then ... no system calls for 830 seconds. Then it opens the next authority's catalog, processes that for a second, and then stats all those 'installed' files again while writing to stdout. Wow. What's it doing in those 830 seconds? Cheers, Chris _______________________________________________ pkg-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-discuss
