The webrev http://cr.opensolaris.org/~padraig/ips-5765-v2/ implements the changes required for RFE 5765 Enhancements to Categories
1) The Update icon is added to sub-categories which have available updates. 2) When the user selects a sub-category and then chooses a different category and then returns to the original category the sub-category that the user had selected is again selected. This is a resubmission so that the webrev applies to the gate.
