Hi Shawn,

Thank you so much for your response. A proxy isn't being used....can I
use pkgrecv from the bash prompt of the auto-install?
It would be worth a try. Please let us know the result along with
the pkg publisher opensolaris.org output.

Jean

 I'll try and
troubleshoot using that. Anything else I should try...or grab
diagnostics from? Thank you again for your help.

pkg: Maximum number of network retries exceeded during download. Details
follow:
Transfer from 'http://pkg.opensolaris.org/release' failed: Read error
on tar stream. (happened 4 times)
This particular oddity has been reported before, and I'm beginning to wonder
if it isn't hiding a more serious, subtle failure.

I've verified that I can receive SUNWPython from pkg.opensolaris.org/release
using pkgrecv, which uses the same mechanism that the client currently does
to retrieve the package content.

As such, I'm currently at a loss as to what could cause this specific
package to fail.

The only thought that comes to mind is whether a proxy is being used?

Cheers,
