Apparently the `/release' part is not required... Before I saw your
post I did:

 pkg set-publisher -0 http://pkg.opensolaris.org release111b

And all is working now, inside gui and cmdline

  pkg publisher

PUBLISHER                             TYPE     STATUS   URI
release111b              (preferred)  origin   online
http://pkg.opensolaris.org/

==============================================================

Oh, and incidentally... I didn't try to do anything about publisher or
repo from cmdline until after trying the gui and seeing the wrong pkgs
still show up after changing from preferred dev to preferred release
and completely removing dev from the list (inside gui)

I only went to cmdline after, and then only used cmds that failed,
until after you and someone else had posted the helpful cmdline
required.

I was asking if those actions in gui ( set release to preferred and
finally removing `dev' from the list altogether) should have taken
care of the publisher changing to release too.
