well, frequent is relative.
installing software should normally be infrequent, too. But I also find myself doing a search, "MORE" frequently, than doing pkg add/delete.

why? well, most recently, to see what package something is in, so I can determine which package I need to remove. Or patch/update.
or add on another machine to make it more like the one I'm looking at.

Or to see if there are multiple instances of a particular thing, and by which vendors. (ie: I have 3 versions of perl installed, on some machines. less on some, more on others)
