Unless you somehow make booting the system (or some other basic operation) dependent on zsh, it's never going to be in the "minimum required packages".

Bug dminer and comay, who don't seem to think this is important enough.

At least for the default CD install, the bugid's:

     10996 zsh in the default install
     http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=10996

Making it a default for other installs (zones, AI) would be another issue.


Whether it belongs in any default installation is certainly open for argument; it would have a lot better chance of being on the live CD if it weren't so damn big. That (and the lack of dependents) is what got it kicked off to start with.
