Subject: question on driver aliases in system upgrade
Hi Mary, we are moving the main functionalities of IB hermon HCA driver
to mcxnex nexus driver so that mcxnex nexus driver can be shared by both
hermon and mcxe drivers. In this change one of the things that we need
to do is to also move the driver aliases for hermon to mcxnex in
driver-infiniband-connectx.mf manifest file. When we tried to use onu to
put our new bits on the test machine, it failed because onu was not able
to handle this driver aliases changes in /etc/driver_aliases file. We
ended up manually removing all the hermon driver aliases entries in
driver_aliases file before running onu and Onu was running Okay after that.
My question is : how does system normal upgrade handle this? Does it
remove old hermon aliases entries first and then add new entries for
mcxnex driver in driver_aliases? Do we need to do anything special to
handle this so that I don't run into the same issue as one with onu?
Thanks,
John.
