Hi,

We are trying to split IB hermon HCA driver into to two functional
parts. One is hermon specific and the other is to be moved into mcxnex
nexus driver that can be shared with mcxe NIC driver. Currently mcxnex
nexus driver only support mcxe NIC. So after the change, the physical
device path for the IB device will be different from before with nexus
node added.
The issue I can foresee is that if you have system running s11 with old
hermon driver and then upgraded to S11 Update 1 with the new driver,
since the new driver creates new device path, the old path before
upgrade is broken now and software that depends on or has been
configured with the old path is also broken now. One way to fix it is to
link the old path to new one in the mechanism like postinstall script.
We have done it before for nv_sata driver, but I don't know how to do it
now with s11. Does it has anything equivalent to postinstall script?

No. IPS doesn't support postinstall scripts for a variety of reasons.

BTWm I remember having to fix several people's machines when that
nv_sata postinstall script turned out to have bugs....

I assume you're using links in /dev which point to instances under /devices....

It appears you're using a link generator in infiniband_link.c...
can you modify this code to generate new links?
