I'm just getting into setting up local IPS stuff, and had a comment or two:
Having the "repository service" as
svc:/application/pkg/server
does not seem to fit, to me. Particularly given the existence of
svc:/application/pkg/system-repository
and other things there.
yes, they all use IPS. But as far as I know, there is no required
interaction between them.
ie: if svc:/application/pkg/server is not running, it has no effect on the
other things under svc:/application/pkg, unless they are configured to point
to the local store. But they may not be.
For example, the system may be a central IPS repository server, that serves
out development packages only. Not system packages. It may not use the
"local" served packages itself at all.
As such, it seems to belong under more generic services. It is not required
for the local "pkg application" (if you can really call it an application in
the first place.. that stuff seems like it really belongs under /system)
