Package: evolution
Version: 2.0.3-1

Hi,

I'm running Debian "sid" and I'm updating every day.
With the first few versions of evolution 2.0.x I used to open
attachments directly with e.g. openoffice, acroread, etc. by clicking
the box next to the attachment description and choosing "Open with
<some-app>".

Suddenly, I realized that the menu only contains "Save As...", even for
known attachment types (such as openoffice documents, ms office docs,
pdf files, etc). At that moment I was running evolution version 2.0.2-2,
but I'm not sure if the error also occured with version 2.0.2-1 or
2.0.1-1). I hoped for a fix in one of the next few releases, but until
now (version 2.0.3-1) the only menu item for attachments I get is "Save
As...".

I did not only try to open attachments from new mails, but also
attachments from stored mails I know I had been able to open directly
with an earlier version of evolution.

I searched the Web and only found one other person reporting the same
problem (but for Fedora). They proposed to inspect the files
in /usr/share/applications. Which I did, too.
/usr/share/applications/ooo645calc.desktop for example contains the mime
type "application/vnd.ms-excel" which is reported by evolution when an
ms excel file is attached. I also compared other mime types (e.g.
application/pdf), but I could not find a single attachment type (other
than images and .txt files that can be shown inline) which showed the
correct menu items in evolution.

I might add that I'm using WindowMaker with as little Gnome as possible
(gnome-desktop-data is installed, but gnome-desktop-environment and
gnome-core are not).

Thanks in advance, cheers

Tom
