Subject: evolution: 100% CPU when using mail notification and dbus enabled
Package: evolution
Version: 2.6.2-4
Severity: important
*** Please type your report below this line ***
I got dbus --system working before launching evolution. As it started
up, I got the following error:
CalDAV Eplugin starting up ...
libnm_glib_nm_state_cb: dbus returned an error.
(org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied) A security policy in place prevents
this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus
configuration file (rejected message had interface
"org.freedesktop.NetworkManager" member "state" error name "(unset)"
destination "org.freedesktop.NetworkManager")
(evolution-2.6:21723): camel-groupwise-provider-WARNING **: Could not
connect..failure connecting
It actually did then connect to my Groupwise backend and fetch the mail,
but the CPU is being utilized at 100%. The top processes are evolution,
Xorg, and mail-notification.
When I remove mail-notification from the Gnome panel, the CPU
utilization returns to normal load. In other experiments, if I disable
the mail notification plugin from within evolution, the CPU load returns
to normal.
I had used mail-notification for a couple of weeks without problem, but
I did not realize the dbus system was not running correctly. See bug #379164.
I'm not sure if this is evolution's problem or mail-notification's
problem.
