Theoretically, haveing some swap space should make things a bit faster. Just because it will be able to swap out (part of) currently unused data segments of running processes, instead of freeng pages of mmaped files (such as running executables) and then reloading those. And when there is no memory pressure, some extra space for buffer cache should help performance too. Some time ago I've added a swap file. And my feeling is that yes, it became a bit faster. Although it is hard to measure. As for swap partition, I see littly rationale for it. Swap file will do. Nikita
