Then perhaps you should learn about `origtargz` utility from devscripts. I found it disturbing and depressing to read proposals to enforce pristine- tar workflow here and there... IMHO pristine-tar is counter productive and maintaining it requires extra effort. It should not be made mandatory just like GBP should not be required to maintain Debian packages. I'll expand further in separate email when I can...
