I see.
Apart for contacting the upstream author (which I will try to do ASAP), what could be the approach?

Using something like

License: ISC or MIT

would make sense?

Patch setup.py to use:

 license='ISC',

The LICENSE file is leading.

With the project being dead upstream, the package will have to carry patches indefinitely.

I didn't realize it.
The last commit is form March 2023.

As mentioned on debian-gis@, see:

 https://github.com/kapadia/usgs/pull/38

I had to add python3-sphinx-rtd-theme to the build dependencies to fix the sphinx-build failure, and use a non-unstable chroot to workaround the python3-defaults breakage (#1040316).

thanks

I will try to clarify the usgs package status upstream and let you know.

Hopefully it's not as dead upstream as #38 suggests.

If it is, eodag upstream should consider adopting it or stop using it.

Kind Regards,

Bas
