I've pushed a change which does this. The patch is marked as Forwarded:
not-needed for now, because upstream is not affected by the removal of
stream_zip as pip can still install it from PyPI, but we may want to upstream

Had to push a few more changes to improve the patch.
The piuparts CI failure is legit, the autopkgtest i386 test is new and known to
be buggy (https://salsa.debian.org/salsa-ci-team/pipeline/-/issues/476), we may
want to disable that for the time being or allow it to fail.
