Package: gdal-bin
Version: 1.11.3+dfsg-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
        Running the binaries
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?

When i wanted to run the binaries from the gdal-bin package, I've got
the same error for each binary:

gdal_contour: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion `(old_top == (((mbinptr)
(((char *) &((av)->bins[((1) - 1) * 2])) - __builtin_offsetof (struct
malloc_chunk, fd)))) && old_size == 0) || ((unsigned long) (old_size) >=
(unsigned long)((((__builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd_nextsize))+((2
*(sizeof(size_t))) - 1)) & ~((2 *(sizeof(size_t))) - 1))) && ((old_top)->size &
0x1) && ((unsigned long) old_end & pagemask) == 0)' failed.

The list of affected binaries:

If i uninstall the libgdal-grass driver, the results is:

*** Error in `gdal_translate': malloc(): memory corruption: 0x0000000000d7d2c0
***

I have rebuilt gdal on my machine, but nothing changed, i've got the same
error, then from upstream with minimal drivers, and everything was ok.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
        :)

Thanks for confirming it's a local issue.

Kind Regards,
