I'm not sure I understand this response. When you say "gcc-specific", are you saying that the Debian Haskell package supports compilers other than gcc? It appears to me that it specifically requires gcc. When you say "fix the whole archive" what do you mean? I suggest only a update to the "debian/control" file to prevent/discourage users from trying to use ghc with older, unsupported compilers.
