A few more information: I have tried to find out exactly which file(s) it needs from xulrunner-dev, and the surprising result is that creating an empty /usr/lib/xulrunner-devel-1.9 folder makes Eclipse starting.
I also found in a forum an other workaround, namely it can be started with the command 'java -jar /usr/lib/eclipse/startup.jar'. It looks like the problem is somewhere in /usr/lib/eclipse/eclipse, which is supposed to run startup.jar, plus it also does some other checking and setting up.
