with tomcat7/java7 I used the Debian "java-package" but because it
didn't support Sun Oracle8 i switched to the
http://www.webupd8.org/2014/03/how-to-install-oracle-java-8-in-debian.html
one to have automatically updated versions...

Important: this package didn't set/modify yet the
/usr/lib/jvm/default-java link which is used by dpkg-buildpackage of
tomcat-native-1.

Actually I have performance problems with my setup - the tomcat8 didn't
close used threads correctly and has too high cpu usage/load in the
system. I could fix it by setting ConnectionTimout=2000 onto the apj13
handler (short checked: the java8/tomcat8 with our app works nice on
Jessie).

Bests

Reiner
