Hi there,

it's again time to look at the upcoming next ESR version for Thunderbird. This will be the version numbers 102.x according to the release calendar. [1]

It took me some time to get a first version ready for the experimental archive within this upstream development cycle for Thunderbird. Most of time the build dependencies were not recent enough within the Debian archive, and also the changes of build setup were hard to understand due the now hard cut between the old and new versions.

I was able to get version 102.0~b4 ready for experimental and did the upload within the past days [2]. I'm a bit surprised to see that all RC platforms did build well. yeah!

There are no big outstanding issues I'm aware of, currently I needed to drop a patch from Simon McVittie about unset MOZ_APP_LAUNCHER [3] due the upstream modifications in that area. I'll ask Simon if he can update the old patch again.

So, as I did this in my announcing emails before for next ESR versions of Thunderbird I like to ask here also for testing the version of Thunderbird in experimental!

If you want to do this please remember to first backup your old user profiles! :-) The profiles can't be exchanged between the old ESR and new ESR versions! Profiles are not backwards compatible.
