Looks like it. There should be a folder named ~/.gconf/apps/gecko-mediaplayer containing %gconf.xml and preferences/%gconf.xml. Is there anything suspicious in there, e.g. is the WMP support disabled in one of these two files? Thanks to the bug report I've discovered that gecko-mediaplayer still ships the gconf schema.
