Package: blender
Version: 2.63a-1+deb7u1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Just starting up blender, the GUI appears with the initial configuration, as known by the manual or various tutorials, with "the cube" as the object, in object mode. However, the cube did not really show up, neither did a lamp or a camera.

Generally, adding other objects did not lead to visible objects at the screen either, while they were existent, as suggested by the outliner on the top right corner of the screen.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Only rendering could make the cube appearing at the screen.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

See above.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Normally, one would expect (after the mentioned manual or tutorials), that the initial configuration, with a cube, a lamp, and a camera, all of them visible, would show up (without rendering, which is something different), so that one would be able to work with them. (And the same should be the case for all other objects that are added in the course of work.)
