This bug was also reported in Ubuntu some time ago:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/easytag/+bug/1689033

It turned out to be a GTK+ bug not handling the old gtk-pixdata format
properly as discussed here:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=781583

However, for other reasons I removed the pixdata usage in 2.4.3-2 so if
you were to use easytag 2.4.3-2, it should work with any gtk version.
See: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=886137

Maybe this could be fixed in stable (along with the more important
#855251), but I am generally quite hesitant with stable updates which
might make things worse.

Thanks,
James
