searching further turned up the possibility to alter the profile in
pavucontrol (which due to #546315 i was unable to use), and pacmd -- which
worked and greatly improved sound quality, confirming my theory about the
wrong profile being used.
anyway, imo pa needs a more intelligent way to determine the profile to be
used -- maybe checking the quality of the sound being delivered?
as for the auto detection of the bt headset: if there, as i suspect, is a
more appropriate package to be reported against, please let me know.
