Late-mounting of/usr is no longer supported since Debian 9: https://www.debian.org/releases/oldstable/amd64/release-notes/ch-information.de.html#late-mounting-usr Depending on libraries in /usr is totally fine -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
