Hi, please consider adding an option to killall5 that allows certain processes to survive a killall5 invocation. My usecase is a diskless client with the root filesystem on a network block device (NBD). A userland process (nbd-client) is required for the device to work; this process needs to stay around until just before shutdown. The same would apply to filesystems mounted via eNBD (enhanced NBD), iSCSI and probably other methods. I have a possible solution attached; please let me know what you think of that approach or if you would know of a better method. Cheers, Til
