Package: sysvinit
Version: 2.86.ds1-38.1
Severity: normal
Command "last -i" displays weird IP addresses (instead of the kernel
version) for "reboot" events when called on wtmp files which were created
on Debian amd64 systems, no matter whether you call "last -i -f
wtmp.amd64" on an i386 or amd64 architecture:
$ last -n 1 -f /var/log/wtmp.amd64 -i reboot
reboot system boot 139.73.13.0 Sat Nov 3 13:51 - 22:46 (08:54)
It should either display the kernel version or 0.0.0.0 as an IP address.
On wtmp files copied from an i386 system, "last -i" works as expected
on both architectures (amd64 and i386):
$ last -n 1 -f /tmp/wtmp.i386 -i reboot
reboot system boot 0.0.0.0 Wed Oct 10 20:50 - 22:46 (24+02:56)
Kind regards,
Daniel

This bug was fixed in a recent upload to experimental. This was the
change that fixed it:
* New patch 41_utmp_64bit from Fedora to avoid writing past the
utmp.ut_tv struct on 64 bit architectures.
Happy hacking,
