A tendril of the Force brushes against your presence, at the edge of your mind, setting your soul afire and compelling you to heed the call of another. Treading the corridors of the Shadow Academy upon Antei‘s moon of Lyspair - clad in the simple, white robes of an Initiate - you find yourself seeking a door. Suddenly, and inexplicably, your feet cease forward motion, after many moments, and leave you before an ornate door bearing the crest of the Head Master. The door opens, without a touch, to reveal an impermeable for of darkness. A light breeze wafts from the room, laden with exotic scents, before a voice - laced with ancient malice - hisses from the depths of the chamber. “Step across the threshold, Initiate.” The unknown calling compels you - a beginner of the Brotherhood - to move forward, once more. Your bare feet transition from the comforting rugs of the corridor to cold, hard tile as you pass through the portal: the transition into darkness. The door closes, once more at the bequest of another’s command, and all residual light vanishes from your eyes, plunging you into darkness. The dark voice slithers across the expanse once more, “You have begun your initial steps upon the path of the Final Way. Pledge your loyalty: recite the Oath of Initiation.” Your throat constricts, but you find a way to overcome the awe of the Head Master’s presence to recite the oath you have spent countless hours learning; knowing you will adhere to this code for all time. “I, Frel'tor Darkrider, swear my eternal fealty to the Iron Throne, and the Dark Lord of the Sith.” “I will not endanger, or threaten, any Brethren with my ambitions, insofar as they do not threaten me. I swear that I will not attempt to usurp the power of my Elders, insofar as they do not degrade the Spirit of the Brotherhood.” “I will abide by the decisions of the Dark Council, and honor the wishes of the Star Chamber, and their representatives. They shall be bound, as I am, by the Covenant of the Brotherhood, and the traditions established by the elders of the Brotherhood.” “I will not use the Dark Side to usurp the rights of my Brethren, nor will I endanger the Brotherhood with my studies. I further swear to hoard no knowledge that I uncover, so that my studies may benefit the whole of the Brotherhood. I swear to further the knowledge of the Dark Path, the Final Way, with confidence and tenacity, so that all may grow in wisdom.” “I will train only those who will swear to this code, to destroy those who dishonor the Brotherhood, or violate this code. And, in turn, I concede to my elders the right to destroy me if I am found in default of this Code, for it is by my own actions that I shall be brought to infamy.” “I hereby swear this oath, of my own freewill, and woe to any whom tempts me to break this oath, and woe to me if I succumb to my temptations.” With the last syllables escaping from your lips, a flash of blue-white light erupts from the shadows surrounding the Head Master. Lightning spills from the hands of the Dark Councilor, searing across your mortal flesh and spiritual form. A morbid scream is ripped from your lips as the last vestiges of Light are driven from the mind; the fire lashing across your senses, burning and searing like molten iron. An eternity of eternities passes, the pain recedes and leaves you upon your knees before the cruel taskmaster of the Brotherhood. The calm, cool, and evil voice of the Head Master calls out once more… “Rise, Apprentice, and take the first step into thine destiny.”
