Hi all, We've missed Week 1 status reports from the following students:
Priyanka Sharma Manuel Franceschini Gabi Diaz I was in touch with Manuel, and during this week, he was busy with exams and wrapping up school for the year still. At the moment, he's still working on getting hg working under Plan 9. If anybody can offer him some assistance, that would be grand. Still, it would be nice to see this information not being relayed through me. I haven't seen activity on the list or on IRC for Gabi Diaz or Priyanka Sharma. We're still missing Week 2 status reports from the following students: Iruata Souza Priyanka Sharma Manuel Franceschini Gabi Diaz Alex Shinn Andre Guenther We're wanting to see these status reports on the Monday of each week to do the following: * Recap your work from the previous week, * Discuss what you will be doing the upcoming week, * Discuss any barriers you are facing, and * To ask for any help you might need from the community. (So, technically, we should actually be seeing week 3 status reports from people this week). Note that these status reports are part of what we are expecting for the entire process of GSoC. If we do not get these status reports, that may reflect negatively upon your midterm report. If you are having any issues accessing your blog, your account, or your repo, please let me know as I am managing these things. If I've missed something and you've attempted to contact the list, your mentor, or me, please send me an email in BIG LETTERS letting me know. Mentors, please encourage your students to open their communication if we have not heard from them. If you're in touch with a student who lets you know that he / she is unable to post a status report, please let us know that on Monday. If you have not heard from your student in the past week, and you are unable to get in touch with your student via email by Wednesday of this week, please let me know, and we will attempt to contact them via other means. Students, if you are unable to get in touch with your mentors, we still have others who are not currently mentoring any projects and who would serve as fine mentors for any of the projects of the course of this summer. If you are unable to get in touch with your mentor by email by Wednesday, please let me know, and we will attempt to contact them via other means. I understand this has gotten off to a rocky start, but this doesn't excuse any of us (mentors or students alike) from fulfilling the obligations we agreed to when we decided to work on GSoC this year. Please don't feel like I'm raining on parades here -- I'm merely letting everyone know the current status as it is apparent to the Plan 9 GSoC community and that we need to make some positive changes in the upcoming week to make sure that this process goes smoothly for both students and mentors alike.
