planner-cyclic-diary-file "~/.emacs.d/.diary")

Is that your regular diary file? You probably don't want that. planner-cyclic
isn't for appointments -- it's for recurring tasks. I would think you would
want a separate cyclic diary file with just the recurring tasks in it.
What is it you are trying to do exactly?

I use planner-appt to remind me the appointments written in .diary, and to show
the contents of that file every Monday,Tuseday and so on. following the
instructions in planner-appt.el,I add the configuration in my .emacs,I restart
my emacs and call "planner-appt-show-alerts" functions, but none is shown in
alerts buffer.Nothing happens when the time of appointment is coming.I don't
know how to settle this problem.
I'm confused. What does this have to do with planner-cyclic?

What versions of planner, muse, and emacs are you using? What OS?

Have you read the parts of the manual about planner-appt and planner-cyclic?

As a first step, since it sounds like you are not using planner-cyclic at all,
I would suggest removing all variables and references to it from your .emacs
and trying again.

I use ubuntu for my desktop OS,My planner is based on emacswiki,
GNU Emacs is compiled by myself, whose version is 23.Maybe the unstability of
the unicode branch causes this problem.I had planned to use appt to
display an forthcoming appointment,however,it can't work either,so I decide
to planner-appt and find this problem.Fortunately,it can work with the tasks and schedule of
that day very well and satisfy my needs.
Thanks all.

Abo

I can't quite make out whether or not you are saying that there is some
problem with planner-appt here. When you say that you planned to use
appt to display a forthcoming appointment but that this didn't work, do
you mean planner-appt, or the appointment code that comes with Emacs in
appt.el?

If it is a problem with planner-appt, you'll need to give some more
details. Is it the problem with cyclic entries that you mentioned
before? And did you try what I suggested in an earlier post? Or is this
a different problem to do with displaying forthcoming appointments?

Regards,
Thanks for your suggestions and patience.I think the problem caused by emacs23. In fact,in the last letter,I mean neither appointment nor planner-appt code can work well.I am sorry for my poor expression,my native language is not English. I give up to use planner-cyclic for regular appointments. Now,I write tasts every day and the planner-appt would read the everyday tasks and reminds me the forthcoming event.
This function hits the spot.
