I have use for this as well... (copying to a Notes plasmoid on my dashboard based on the window below, etc) More specifically, I think it would be nice if this were its own KWin effect with a configuration dialog allowing the user to control the strength of the blur and the alpha used in the background as well. I sometimes find it difficult to read low contrast items with the current QColor(0,0,0,180) that is used as the background, and have wanted more than once to make it more transparent.
