I did some further debugging on this: So if i explicitly set plasmoid.status to AcceptingInputStatus when my editfield get focus the PanelView::statusChanged() called, hence the KWindowSystem::forceActiveWindow is called as well, but the field on the panel still doesn't accept keyboard input.
