I believe it is time to look for a new Breeze GTK maintainer. The truth is that
the numerous issues surrounding GTK have demotivated me over the years and
other contributors have carried on while I've become more of a drive-by
contributor. The entire theme was refactored in SASS without me noticing- if
that's not a sign of why I should step down as Breeze GTK maintainer, I don't
know what is.

The color scheme generation work I had nearly completed relied on the theme
being raw CSS as well, but it seems some work has been put into an alternative
implementation, so the original approach won't be valid or necessary at this
point. Again, my unawareness of this fact is probably a good sign that it's
time to ask other experienced GTK theme authors to take on the work.

So, if you are interested in helping out, a decent knowledge of CSS and SASS is
required and an interest in dynamic color scheme generation in GTK would be
beneficial. Although it may not be immediately relevant to Breeze GTK's
eventual implementation, the Oomox theme designer may be a good place to look
for ideas. Feel free to join the Visual Design Group channel if you're
interested and we can get you up to speed on the state of things.

I'll be writing a document to catalog the relevant GTK bugs and detail the
history of the difficulties surrounding GTK support so anybody interested in
helping can have a good understanding of the incompatibilities and limitations
before they jump in. Some of these issues are extremely unlikely to be patched
in GTK so it's important to realize we can't do everything you might expect.
I'll continue to visit the VDG channel regularly, so I'll be happy to answer
any questions about GTK theming in Plasma for those interested in contributing
or taking a more formal maintainer role.

I'm not leaving the VDG or KDE as a whole, of course, but the most I will be
working on is small proposals and patches for the foreseeable future. Thank you
for your understanding and any assistance you may provide.
