when i try this command as suggested above I get this output # systemctl enable display-manager.service The unit files have no installation config (WantedBy=, RequiredBy=, UpheldBy=, Also=, or Alias= settings in the [Install] section, and DefaultInstance= for template units). This means they are not meant to be enabled or disabled using systemctl.
Possible reasons for having this kind of units are: • A unit may be statically enabled by being symlinked from another unit's .wants/, .requires/, or .upholds/ directory. • A unit's purpose may be to act as a helper for some other unit which has a requirement dependency on it. • A unit may be started when needed via activation (socket, path, timer, D-Bus, udev, scripted systemctl call, ...). • In case of template units, the unit is meant to be enabled with some instance name specified. upon reboot I am getting a plain display manager perhaps lxdm and not sddm or lightdm I am going something wrong perhaps On Wed, Aug 6, 2025 at 4:12 AM Krzysztof Mrozowicz via pld-devel-en < [email protected]> wrote: > Dnia 2025-07-25, o godz. 17:56:48 > Saleem Ceann Khan Marwat <[email protected]> napisał(a): > > > I tried sddm , lightdm , installed each and when tried to enable I get > > error that the particular e.g lightdm.service is not available. > > > > What am I doing wrong? > > In PLD there is one service for all display managers and it's called > display-manager.service.
