Hey!  Just because the problem's been fixed, doesn't mean there
wasn't one :)

Seriously, I checked my disk space and although not all
partitions are as empty as I'd like, there was enough space.

Also, I was able to cvs update a few other things, including
samba.

The strace output also showed that the error message was
received from a file handle that was duped from the connection
to the cvs server.

Anyway, it's working now, so that's fine.
