I made a quick survey to see whether cairo is an option under Windows XP. Nothing conclusive sofar, but I only found relatively obscure links to Windows versions of libcairo. Given that the Windows culture is more one of "let us get new furniture" than "let us get new tools and build a new sofa and what about that nice design for a dinner table, get me the saw and hammer", I would prefer the GD library to cairo for Windows. I need to have a closer look at the availability of the library (or libraries) in a ready-to-use form, but I agree with Andrew, Maurice and Geoffrey: it is too early.
