Jerry,

The reason for this is that Ubuntu pulls the source packages directly 
from Debian. On Debian we had a lot of trouble with some platforms
where Gnu ada was not working / not available and so we marked the
packages experimental. It was not just that the plplot ada code was
experimental. I will go back and review the situation anyway. Things 
may have improved.
