This may be obvious to other konqueror users here, but I have just discovered the webkit plugin, and the difference to konqueror (my long-term favorite browser) between the default khtml engine and the webkit engine is like night and day. Before, I could not even log in to sourceforge.net with konqueror/khtml while now I can do that with konqueror/webkit. Furthermore, with konqueror/webkit, I can easily manipulate SourceForge bug reports (e.g., changing their status). (That was becoming an issue for me with the iceweasel (firefox) browser.) I have no idea why Debian packagers have decided to supply the khtml version of konqueror as the default when the webkit version is so much better, but there it is.
Note all these tests have been done with the konqueror plugin (a package called kpart-webkit on Debian). So this alternative provides the full konqueror functionality that I know and love. Another alternative I could have tried (but did not) was rekonq which is apparently a light-weight version of konqueror that is based on webkit. Alan __________________________ Alan W.
