Hi Chris:

It was good to hear of your success on the Cygwin platform which is
largely due to Arjen's hard work on making PLplot work smoothly on
that platform.

Please let us know if you have success evaluating
PDL::Graphics::PLplot (see
http://search.cpan.org/~dhunt/PDL-Graphics-PLplot-0.67/).  That is an
external project that is developed independently by Doug Hunt. It was
last released a year ago and is integrated completely with PDL rather
than being an independent project that adds on to existing PDL
capabilities. Because of that integration with PDL it is a bit
complicated (see directions in examples/perl/README.perldemos) to
build and install PDL::Graphics::PLplot to see if it is consistent
with the latest version of PLplot (i.e., whether it works at all) or
to see what if any PLplot functionality is missing from
PDL::Graphics::PLplot. I got the procedure in
examples/perl/README.perldemos to work three years ago on Linux and
that test was for PDL-Graphics-PLplot-0.55 (so many versions behind
Doug's current work).
