To PLplot developers and testers: After a six-year break I have started developing again, and I discovered recently that a number of PLplot maintenance issues had accumulated when I upgraded my system from Debian Buster to Trixie.
I fixed most of those in a recent commit which I pushed. The commit message has lots of comments about the issues I ignored so I encourage other here to try the latest git version of PLplot for themselves by comprehensively testing it (as I documented in the commit message) on your favorite platform, as well as fixing any of the maintenance issues that I noticed but ignored or any additional issues you might find. I hope to get to one further PLplot issue soon (the news feed no longer works at plplot.sf.net), but after that I plan to spend most of my development effort on FreeEOS with only occasional contributions to PLplot.
