There is a very convenient subversion client available:
    tortoisesvn - http://www.tortoisesvn.net
It works via the Windows Explorer and similar programs

Alan,

what version of SVN should we use? I have had some issues with an installed
version in a completely unrelated project - it claimed that the 
repository was made
by a newer version of SVN, and I had to use other means to get access.
