Hello, I have found that the order in which I call plsetopt() matters. Using plsetopt("drvopt","8bit") before plsetopt("geometry","800x600") makes PLplot forget about the 8bit option and use 24bit instead (I use the png driver). I have checked the png-files using pnginfoto determine if they are 8bit or 24bit. Setting "geometry" before "8bit" works fine. On the command line it works either way.
