I just started up a recompiled drracket, which--as expected--didn't see my prefs file. To my surprise, though, opening the languages dialog with cmd-L showed *both* of the two main radio buttons selected. I clicked on the top one, and everything was fine.
This may not be a bug; in particular, the language dialog may be changing or disappearing or whatever. So I suppose this is just FYI. John
