I've been considering a simpler version of what you describe for months. I've still not done anything about it, mainly because my C is fairly bad and I hate GUI programming in C. If you do it, you'll have at least two very appreciative users here. I think the jpilot list are always supportive of plugin authors, too. Thanks, -- MJR
