It is, more or less. The base source from which they build thier distribution is available under their community liscense. The same holds for their releases of Perl and Tcl-Tk. Their community liscense, which may be found at http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePython/license_agreement.plex seems reasonbly unrestrictive. There are various add-ons, like thier Komodo IDE, that they sell. > The only concern I would have is getting > non-reproducible errors on ActiveState python that > don't exist in the normal Python, and the difficulty > of trying to track them down and fork around them. Understood. But if I choose to use an existing Python installation on my PC instead of the one Plucker comes with, it's my issue if something breaks. Meanwhile, I prefer to keep things simple. Why have multiple versions of a language installed if one already exists? It doesn't have to be ActiveState, per se: I could just as easily use the version from www.python.org. The point is that the user might already _have_ Python installed, and should have an option to use the existing copy. The same thoughts apply to any Plucker Desktop that uses a Java based parser, since even more folks are likely to have a Java Run-time environment present. How _do_ I tell Plucker Desktop to use a specific installation of Python? > Best wishes, > Robert ______ Dennis _______________________________________________ plucker-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.rubberchicken.org/mailman/listinfo/plucker-list
